ThriveAcademy FAQ’s

Based on questions submitted during the May 20, 2026 Q&A webinar Last updated May 21, 2026

Lifetime Deals, Pricing & What You’ll Pay

Q: I bought ThriveCart Learn or Learn+ on a lifetime deal. Do I now have to pay a monthly fee?

Your lifetime Learn or Learn+ license is valid on the new Academy platform for the Courses module (see below). Everything else requires an active Academy subscription.

  • Courses only (no community): Your courses, students, and content will remain accessible in ThriveAcademy’s course section at no extra cost, mapped to your existing features in Learn or Learn+, plus some new ones like quizzes and certificates. When Learn/Learn+ is retired at the end of 2026, all creators will be moved to ThriveAcademy’s course section as part of that transition, and your lifetime purchase covers this.
  • Community features: If you want to add a community to your courses (discussion spaces, gamification, leaderboards, live tutoring/events, etc.), that requires a ThriveAcademy subscription. This is because community features require ongoing infrastructure such as video hosting, real-time feeds, storage, and more, that a one-time license cannot cover.

Q: What does ThriveAcademy actually cost after the trial?

ThriveAcademy is available on three plans: all plans include quizzes, course hosting, gamification, certificates, and assessments.

Migrated users from Learn/Learn+ will retain access to everything they had within Learn, but in ThriveAcademy with the addition of quizzes and certificates. Video hosting remains available only on paid tiers.

Q: How do I get access to ThriveAcademy?

You can opt in via the banner in your dashboard or see more details by heading to https://thrivecart.com/products/thriveacademy-learnupgrade/ (Learn Customers)
https://thrivecart.com/products/thriveacademy-learnplusupgrade (Learn+ Customers)
https://thrivecart.com/products/thriveacademy/ (New Customers)

Q: Why isn’t there a “communities only” add-on for lifetime Learn+ users?

The architecture of ThriveAcademy is fundamentally different from Learn+. The community is the core experience that everything else (courses, progress, achievements, discussions) lives within. This could not be replicated in the Learn platform, which is over 6 years old now.

The good news is that your lifetime Learn/Learn+ license covers your course-only access on the new platform. If and when you’re ready to add community features, you can subscribe to the plan that fits your community size, and the pricing (starting at $37/mo, billed annually) is significantly higher value than comparable platforms like Circle ($89–$399/mo) or Kajabi ($89–$399/mo).

Q: Is the current pricing the lowest it will ever be?

Yes. The pricing available now during the launch period will not decrease in the future. If you’re considering subscribing, locking in now gives you the best available rate.

Q: Does the annual plan actually save 20%?

Yes,  annual billing reduces the effective monthly rate by 20%: Starter drops from $47 to $37/mo, Growth from $87 to $67/mo, and Scale from $127 to $97/mo, billed as a single annual payment.

Migration: What Transfers and What Doesn’t

Q: What exactly gets migrated from Learn/Learn+ to ThriveAcademy?

  • All courses, modules, and lessons (structure and order preserved)
  • Video content, all YouTube, Vimeo, and Wistia embed codes are copied exactly as-is
  • PDFs, audio files, images, and downloadable resources
  • Drip schedules, student tags, and access rules
  • Student accounts and passwords (no reset required & one set of credentials for all communities they are enrolled in!)

Nothing changes for your students until you explicitly share the login URL with them directly. You review everything first.

Once reviewed, you can then share their new login URL (https://lms.thrivecart.com/auth/student/signin). Custom domains are TBD, but once DNS settings are updated, will point to the new ThriveAcademy environment.

Q: My course formatting or HTML layouts seem broken after migration. What happened?

Development is working to resolve reported issues with migrating HTML code blocks. If you have significant issues, please contact our support team directly via your dashboard.

Q: Do I need to re-upload my videos?

No, not for your existing embedded videos. Legacy Learn had no native video storage; all video content was stored as YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia embed codes. Those embed codes are copied exactly as-is into ThriveAcademy, so your videos continue to play exactly as before.

If you want to move those videos to ThriveAcademy’s native video hosting (powered by Bunny.net CDN), you can upload them directly at your own pace after migration. This is optional,  your existing embeds will continue to work. We cannot migrate your videos if you have your own Bunny.net account, you will need to upload them.

Q: Will my custom domain work in ThriveAcademy?

Custom domains are TBD, but we are investigating establishing 301 redirects for all your legacy course URLs automatically. To fully point your custom domain to ThriveAcademy, you will need to update your DNS settings (a CNAME record) to point to your new Academy subdomain. ThriveCart handles SSL provisioning automatically once you do.

Note: DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours. Custom domains are included for existing Learn+ users, but available for Learn and new users on the Growth and Scale plans only.

Video Hosting:  What’s Included and Where

Q: Can I host my videos directly in ThriveAcademy, or do I still need Vimeo/YouTube?

ThriveAcademy includes native video hosting on all paid plans. You can upload videos directly,  no third-party hosting service required. Storage limits by plan:

  • Starter: 100 GB storage, up to 2 GB per file, HD (1080p)
  • Growth: 500 GB storage, up to 4 GB per file, HD
  • Scale: Unlimited storage, up to 10 GB per file, 4K streaming

Q: Is video hosting included in the free/course-only tier, or only in paid plans?

Native video hosting (direct upload to ThriveAcademy’s servers) is part of the paid subscription plans. This is one of the primary reasons Academy requires a recurring subscription; hosting and delivering video at scale have ongoing infrastructure costs that a one-time license cannot cover.

If you are on the free course-only tier (not subscribing to a community plan), you can continue embedding videos from third-party platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia as you always have.

Q: The 500 MB upload limit feels too low for 4K video. Will it be increased?

The upload limits are higher than 500 MB across all plans. The limits by plan are 2 GB (Starter), 4 GB (Growth), and 10 GB (Scale). If you are experiencing a lower limit in the platform, please contact support.

Student Limits & Your Existing Students

Q: I have thousands of students. Do I lose my unlimited student access when I move to ThriveAcademy?

As a Learn or Learn+ user, your existing students are not lost, and as an existing user, your course-only student access remains unlimited regardless of plan.

Here is the clear distinction:

  • Course students (Learn/Learn+ migration): Unlimited, regardless of which Academy plan you choose or whether you subscribe at all.
  • Community members: This is what the tier member limits apply to. If you add a community and students join it, those numbers count toward your plan limit (2,000 on Starter, 10,000 on Growth, unlimited on Scale).

So if you have 19,000 students in your courses, but only 200 of them will join your community, you do not need Scale for your community; you only need a plan that supports your community member count.

For new users, the limits apply to both Courses and Communities.

Q: I have students from bundles who aren’t active, but I don’t want to remove their access. How are they counted?

Enrolled course students are not counted against community member limits for Learn and Learn+ users (they are for new users). As a Learn or Learn+ user, the member cap applies only to students who are active members of a community space. Students who remain in your courses only,  regardless of how many there are,  do not affect your plan tier.

Trial Access & Getting Started

Q: I signed up for the trial, but can’t find ThriveAcademy in my dashboard. Where do I go?

You can log in directly at: https://academy.thrivecart.com/auth/creator/signin

If you have not yet received your welcome email or do not see the option in your dashboard, please use the support AI agent in your ThriveCart dashboard to raise a ticket.

Q: I haven’t received a welcome email. What should I do?

First, check your spam/junk folder; ThriveCart emails can occasionally be filtered. We recommend adding ThriveCart to your email whitelist to prevent this going forward.

If the email is not in spam and you signed up more than 24 hours ago, please contact support via ThriveIQ in your ThriveCart dashboard, which will escalate your ticket to the team if it cannot be resolved automatically.

Q: Can I preview what ThriveAcademy looks like before starting my free trial?

A full video walkthrough of the platform is available on ThriveCart’s YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/wPcidgn9Cgk, and the support documentation covers the platform in detail at https://support.thrivecart.com/help-categories/thrive-academy/

Once you start your trial, you have access to both your legacy Learn/Learn+ platform and ThriveAcademy simultaneously, so you can explore ThriveAcademy fully before moving your students across.

Q: How does the social sharing bonus work? How do you track it?

Existing Learn users can earn an extra month of free trial (to 3 months total), and Learn+ users can earn an extra 2 months (to 6 months total) by sharing your ThriveAcademy instance on social media. Full details on how to submit your share for credit is TBD.

Q: Will I be reminded before my trial ends so I’m not accidentally charged?

Yes,  you will receive reminder emails before your trial period ends, so you have time to choose your plan or cancel before any billing begins.

Previewing the Student Experience

Q: How do I see what my students actually see,  not just an individual lesson?

Inside the course editor, the top toolbar includes a Student Preview button, which lets you preview the course experience from a student’s perspective.

To see the full community experience as a student (including the community feed, spaces, and navigation), the recommended approach is to add yourself as a student manually. You can do this from your dashboard via the Quick Actions panel (“Add Student”). If you encounter any issues doing this, please contact support.

We will bring a student view to the Community element soon!

Q: When I make my course live in ThriveAcademy, will my students get an automatic notification?

Yes,  when you trigger Stage 3 of the migration (moving your students to Academy), every student receives a Welcome Email with a magic link. One click and they are inside your community, with no new account creation or password setting required. Note: they can still use their username and password to sign in, if they prefer!

You remain in full control of when this happens. Students are never moved without your explicit confirmation.

Key Platform Features, Current & Coming

Q: What community spaces are available inside ThriveAcademy?

Every community includes six built-in space types to choose from:

  • Announcements,  broadcast updates to your entire student base
  • Q&A,  structured peer support with pinnable best answers
  • Course Space,  where students access course content and discuss
  • Resource Hub,  a searchable library of shared content
  • Quiz Hub,  all course quizzes in one place
  • Lounge,  general discussion, or VIP access for smaller groups

You can enable, disable, and configure these spaces to suit your community design. Courses are consumed directly inside the community; students never leave to a separate platform.

Q: What’s the difference between a Space and Space Category?

Think of it like a college campus:

The Community is the campus, where students land initially and can then navigate to different spaces.
The Space = the room (content lives here).
The Space Category/Group = the building (organizes spaces in the sidebar).

Q: Can I sell course access and community access separately?

Absolutely, linking a product purchase to course access only is coming soon, but will be available directly within product linking settings.

Community access models available now include Public, Free (Private), Paid (through ThriveCart checkouts), and Invitation Only. We will soon be adding in-app purchases. This enables you to sell community membership directly and tie ThriveCart product purchases to community access and specific space unlocks.

The ability to configure different access levels within a community (e.g., basic course access vs. premium community access) is supported through Space Unlock Rules, which can be based on purchase, course completion, quiz scores, experience point (XP) level, tags, and more.

Q: Are live events coming? Can I run live classes inside the platform?

Yes,  live events are on the roadmap and confirmed for a future release. The platform is being built to support both 1:1 and 1:many live sessions. ThriveCart is also launching a dedicated webinar platform (ThriveSeminar) as a separate product within the broader Thrive ecosystem.

Q: Will there be a mobile app?

A mobile app (native iOS and Android) is on the roadmap for later in 2026. The platform is fully mobile-responsive now, so students and creators can use it on any device via their browser in the meantime.

Q: Is there a search feature so students can find topics within a course?

A searchable Resource Hub space is available for content you publish outside of lessons. In-course lesson search is on the product roadmap. In the meantime, the member directory and community feed are both searchable.

Q: Will there be multi-language support?

Yes, multi-language support is actively being developed and will launch soon.

Q: Will the AI assistant be optional?

Yes, AI features are optional and configurable. You will not be forced to use AI moderation or AI tools if you prefer not to.

Integrations

Q: Will Flodesk, Canva, and other third-party integrations continue to work?

Your existing ThriveCart integrations (including Flodesk, email marketing platforms, and Zapier) will continue to operate separately from ThriveAcademy and continue to operate through ThriveCart’s product fulfillment settings. After migration, you should check the Integration Status Panel in your Stage 2 review dashboard to see which integrations carried over automatically and which may need manual reconnection.

Specific integrations for actions within ThriveAcademy (including Zapier enrollment triggers) are part of the ongoing development roadmap.

The team is also building an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for API integration with AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT, expected in August, 2026.

Q: Is ThriveCart required to use ThriveAcademy?

ThriveCart is not required to offer free, manual course or community enrollment. However, to enable native commerce inside your community,  where purchases automatically grant course or community access,  a ThriveCart account is required and is billed separately.

The Legacy Platform & Long-Term Plan

Q: What happens to Learn/Learn+ at the end of 2026?

Learn and Learn+ will be retired at the end of 2026. When that happens, all creators and students will be transitioned to ThriveAcademy’s course section automatically. If you have not started a trial or subscribed, your courses and students will still be accessible in ThriveAcademy’s course-only mode at no charge; you will not lose access to your content or your students.

If you choose to subscribe to a community plan before or after retirement, your community features activate on top of your existing courses.

Q: Can I keep using Learn/Learn+ alongside ThriveAcademy for now?

Yes. During your trial period, both platforms remain fully active. Your students continue accessing their courses in Learn/Learn+ until you are ready to move them to ThriveAcademy. The legacy platform will be archived (not deleted) for 90 days after your Stage 3 migration, giving you a safety net.

Q: If I subscribe to ThriveAcademy for a while and then cancel, do I lose my courses?

No. As a Learn/Learn+ user, if you cancel your ThriveAcademy subscription, your courses and enrolled students remain accessible in ThriveAcademy’s Course element, covered by your lifetime license and provided to the features under your lifetime plan. You will lose access to community features and hosting features (spaces, gamification, discussions, etc.), but your course content and student access remain intact, provided you have a valid ThriveCart license.

For new users, provided you have a valid ThriveCart license, you and your students will also retain access to the Courses platform.

Q: Will features coming soon be available to free/course-only users, or only in paid tiers?

Advanced features such as AI tools, white-label branding, custom domains, and community features are gated by plan tier as outlined in the pricing table above.
