Hiding $0 Commission Products from Affiliates

Keep your affiliate communications clean and accurate by choosing when to show or hide $0 commission items in your reports and alerts. ThriveCart affiliate notifications handles zero value commission activity effectively, so affiliates only see what’s relevant and you maintain a more professional partner experience by avoiding confusion when no commission is earned.

Within your ThriveCart dashboard, you can now choose whether to show or hide $0 commission transactions (such as rebills or initial orders with no affiliate payout) from your affiliates’ dashboards.

Previously, affiliates could see all tracked transactions related to their referrals, and received commission earned emails for all referrals – including those with $0 commission.

This can cause confusion among affiliates who expected to see commissions for every transaction, even when their payout was limited to the initial sale. To address this, we’ve added new visibility controls under your Affiliate area settings.

How to hide $0 commission transactions

You can now manage affiliate visibility for zero-value commission transactions from your ThriveCart dashboard. Find these settings by heading to: Settings > Account-wide settings > Affiliate area settings, where you’ll see two new checkboxes:

    • Hide zero value product purchase commission transactions
      • When disabled (default), affiliates will see initial sales they referred, even if no commission was earned.
      • When enabled, these $0 initial transactions will be hidden.
    • Hide zero value subscription rebill commission transactions
      • When disabled (default), affiliates will see rebills for their referrals, even when their commission on that rebill is $0.
      • When enabled, rebills with $0 commission will be hidden from affiliates.

Both options are disabled by default to preserve original behavior.

    Example Use Cases

    1. Affiliate earns 50% commission on $100 main product, but 0% on upsells.

With Hide Zero Value Product Purchase Commission Transactions enabled:

    • Affiliate sees main product sale ($50 commission) ✅
    • But does NOT see upsell transaction ($0 commission) ❌

    2. Affiliate earns $25 commission on first payment only, not on recurring rebills

With Hide Zero Value Subscription Rebill Commission Transactions setting enabled:

    • Affiliate sees initial subscription purchase ($25 commission) ✅
    • But does NOT see Month 2+ rebills ($0 commission) ❌

    These settings are retroactive.

Changes made to these settings will also apply to existing transactions, not just new ones.
That means once you update your preferences, the system will automatically hide or show the affected transactions in affiliate dashboards based on your new configuration.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    • Q: Does my affiliate still receive emails when $0 in commission is earned?
      • A: This setting is independent of and separate from affiliate emails, but “commission earned” emails to affiliates have been suppressed platform-wide when the commission amount is $0.01 or less – even if you have not hidden those $0 transactions from the affiliates dashboard. You as the vendor will continue to receive new sale emails even when the product or commission is $0.
    • Q: I have one affiliate who wants to see all referred transactions, and one who only wants to see transactions with commission earned. Can I adjust these settings on a per-affiliate basis?
      • A: No, these settings are set on an account-wide basis. This means it would disable these transactions from showing for all of your affiliates (when enabled) or show for everyone (when disabled).
    • Q: Why is my affiliate saying they are missing transactions?
      • A: If either setting to hide $0 commissions is enabled, then any transactions where commission was $0 would not be surfaced in their dashboard. You can always look up the customer in the vendor dashboard (under transactions) to confirm the product purchased and commission earned for that affiliate.
