Since adding integration with the Teachable platform, the support team have had questions around the integration, most notably;
Does your Teachable integration work with the free or basic plans?
You are required to have a Professional or High Volume plan with Teachable for any 3rd party payment platform to integrate.
Teachable has built-in restrictions that prevent users on a Free or Basic plan from using third-party systems to automatically create users with access to courses in their account.
This is a limitation imposed by Teachable and is not something that can be circumvented.
Teachables own pricing table is quite misleading as it clearly states that Third-party integrations work on the Basic, Professional, and High Volume plans.
ThriveCart personally reached out to Teachable to get clarification, and they apologised for the confusion and stated that this is referring to their third-party integrations they have set up.
On the Free and Basic plans, Teachable take a cut of your sales. By using 3rd party payment systems, they are not able to collect this payment, so specific functionality is disabled for these accounts.
On the Professional and High Volume plans, “when utilizing custom payment gateways” Teachable does not take a cut of your sales so using ThriveCart or any other 3rd party processing platform works correctly.
As a reference, if you’re a basic user making $1,200 a month in sales, you would already be paying $99/mo (5% of $1,200 is $60, plus the $39/mo fee). If you’re earning more than this per month, it would actually be cheaper to move from the Basic to the Professional plan.
