Accounts created before April 2025 were able to connect to older versions of our Stripe Integration, known as Stripe Legacy and Stripe Enhanced. Accounts created after this date would have been unable to connect to these older versions and would already be operating on Stripe Connect+.
As of October 8, 2026, transactions processed through supported legacy Stripe payment integrations will carry a 0.5% External Payment Integration Fee. There will continue to be a 0% ThriveCart platform transaction fee when processing through Stripe Connect+.
So, there are two options:
- Migrate to Stripe Connect+: 0% ThriveCart platform transaction fee. Migration takes around 5 minutes for most accounts, and you can migrate all of your product checkouts in one click, transfer any Stripe Capital balances you might have (and you won’t lose your credit history with Stripe). If you do not have subscriptions to migrate, follow the link here for instructions to setup Connect+. If you have active subscriptions, request a migration here and our team will transfer them for you.
- Continue using Stripe Legacy/Enhanced: your existing payment-provider fees, plus the 0.5% fee. Nothing is lost on October 8. Your checkouts will keep working exactly as they do today.
How to Migrate
Users currently on Legacy versions of Stripe will want to Setup a Stripe Connect+ account as detailed in this guide.
Once your new Stripe Connect+ account is set up, you can choose to enable Connect+ on all your products with the click of a button, and any new payments processed through your checkouts moving forward will be created within that new Connect+ account.
If you do not offer subscriptions, then you’re done with the migration, and you’ll continue experiencing a 0% transaction fee on payments processed via Stripe Connect+.
Existing subscriptions will continue to process through your older Stripe account, for a fee on recurring payments, unless you opt to migrate those ongoing subscriptions to your Connect+ account.
How to Migrate Subscriptions to Stripe Connect+
Before migrating to Stripe Connect+ from our legacy versions of Stripe, you will want to make sure of the below:
Once you have connected Stripe Connect+ to all of your products, you can then request migration from our team by submitting your information via the below form:

- Paused Subscriptions
- Cancelled Subscriptions
What to do about Stripe Capital?
If you currently have loans through Stripe Capital that your Stripe Legacy or Stripe Enhanced accounts are paying off, our team can migrate your capital to your Connect+ account for you as well. Just make sure to mention this when the team reaches out about your migration request, and they’ll ensure it’s moved over for you. See more on Stripe Capital migration in this guide.

FAQs
- How do I know which version of Stripe I’m using?

- Why is there a fee at all?
- Stripe is progressively deprecating its oldest APIs, and keeping them running requires ongoing engineering, infrastructure, security, and operational investment. Rather than spreading that cost across every ThriveCart customer, it is carried only by merchants who actively choose to continue using the legacy infrastructure. You can avoid it entirely by migrating.
