Filtering subscriptions that are cancelled but still active

ThriveCart includes a dedicated “Cancelled (still active)” subscription filter, making it easier to identify customers who have cancelled their subscription but still have paid access until the end of their current billing period.

This helps you clearly separate customers who are in their final paid cycle from those who have fully churned.

Why this filter matters

Previously, subscription filters worked as follows:

  • Active
    Included all currently paying subscriptions
  • Cancelled
Included all cancelled subscriptions — even if the customer still had paid access remaining

Because of this, it was difficult to distinguish between:

  • Customers who have cancelled but are still paid-up
  • Customers whose subscription has fully ended

This made it harder to:

  • Forecast churn accurately
  • Identify customers in their final billing period
  • Target win-back or retention campaigns
  • Report cleanly on active vs. churned subscriptions

The Cancelled (still active) filter solves this.

What does “Cancelled (still active)” mean?

A subscription will appear under Cancelled (still active) when:

  • The subscription has been cancelled, and
  • The current billing period end date is still in the future

In other words, the customer has cancelled future renewals but still has access until their last paid date.

How to use the “Cancelled (still active)” filter

  1. Go to the Subscriptions tab in your ThriveCart dashboard
  2. Open the Status filter dropdown
  3. Select Cancelled (still active)

You’ll now see only subscriptions that are cancelled but still active until the end of their billing cycle.

What this filter does (and doesn’t) change

  • Adds a new filter option
  • Does not change how existing filters behave

Specifically:

  • Active continues to show all currently paying subscriptions
  • Cancelled continues to show all cancelled subscriptions (including expired ones)
  • Cancelled (still active) is a separate filter, designed to give you more precise visibility without affecting existing workflows

Common use cases

This filter is especially useful if you want to:

  • Track customers in their final paid period
  • Prepare churn or retention reporting
  • Run end-of-cycle win-back campaigns
  • Identify users who still have access but won’t renew

Summary

The Cancelled (still active) subscription filter gives you clearer insight into subscription lifecycle stages by showing only customers who:

  • Have cancelled their subscription
  • Still have paid access until the end of their current billing period

It’s a simple addition that removes reporting blind spots and gives you more control over how you manage and analyze subscriptions.
